Drumlanrig Root Rats - Thursday 1st July

This Thursday's coaching sessions have been replaced by the Dirt Crit that is taking place at Ae Forest.  The race format will be along the lines of the Heathhall Race and registration is from 1730 and practice is from 1800.   The race HQ is the Ae Bike shop close to the Forestry Commission complex just down from Ae village.  See the Ae7 web-site for full directions.  The Drumlanrig coaching team are planning to be there at the start to offer their support to the Root Rats in the race.

We are having our committee meeting tomorrow night and will be back in touch very soon after this with details of coaching sessions for the summer holidays.

Drumlanrig Root Rats Coaching Thursday 24th June

Coaching is on as usual this week.  The topic for the Sprogs group will be braking and Rik will be covering the stop box drill. Please ensure that your brakes are working.  The Yoofs session will be another great mix of riding in the woods with coaching on trail specific technique.

Finally, many thanks to everyone who has responded on the question of changing the coaching to Mondays.  The majority of those that have responded have been favourable towards Mondays while a few of you would face a difficult choice against other activities and some just cannot do Mondays.  We have our next committee meeting on the 30th June and will make the final decision on Mondays then.

Drumlanrig Root Rats Coaching Thursday 17th June

To Drumlanrig Root Rats, Parents and Carers,

Coaching is on as usual this Thursday for both the Sprogs and Yoofs groups.  Please aim to get to the Castle for 1700 for the U12 Sprogs group and for 1845 for the U16 Yoofs group.  The finish times are 1830 and 2030 respectively.  This week, the Yoofs will be heading up to the pump track at the far end of the red route to practise pumping skills.  Please remember to bring something to drink as this could be thirsty work.

We are considering moving our coaching sessions to Monday nights in the near future and would appreciate any thoughts that you might have on this suggestion.  We are bringing up this change after four years of running our coaching sessions on Thursday nights, because we are unable to have support from our Scottish Cycling RDC on a Thursday night due to a conflict with another club.  Anyway, please get back in touch by reply to this note or call Rik on 01848 330 080 if you would like to express a view or to discuss this further.

Finally, please note that the Heathhall Dirt Crit results are now available on the blog along with the D&G youth Series league standings after the first two rounds.  Furthermore, the next round of the series is on the 1st July at Ae Forest and details of this are posted on the blog here.
