South West Scotland Cycling Project

The South West Scotland Project has been formed by cycling clubs in our region to increase the amount of bike racing that takes place in our area.   This is very exiting news for anyone of any age who is interested in cycling.  Each club in the region has a representative on the project and our rep is Ewan Clark who is also a coach and trail cycle leader with the club.

The main activities of the project are as follows

  • promote cycle racing in the South West.  The project has developed a full series of races at all levels for 2011 and the club are supporting two of these races in the MTB discipline.
  • provide full support to clubs in the region in race organisation.  For example, a race organisers workshop is being held over the weekend 26-27th February.
  • provide coaching for riders who have progressed in the sport and need a higher level of professional input to improve even further.   For example, there have been TCL led mountain bike rides organised for youth riders every fortnight since the start of the year.  See this link for more details and feel free to get in touch if you are interested in taking part or helping out.
The club is looking for volunteers to act as marshals for races at the Castle on the 10th April and 4th September.  Please get in touch if you are available to help.  The project web-site can be viewed at http://www.southwestscotlandcyclingproject.com
