Trailbuilding Cancelled / Race this Thursday

This Tuesday should be our next trailbuilding session.  However, as the trails are in such good condition at the moment we have elected to cancel this month's trailbuilding session.  In the next month or so, we are hoping to agree a new section of race singletrack to add in time for the SXC and we will be looking to use future trail building sessions to cut this trail in.

Some club members for more details of the race that is taking place this Thursday at Heathhall in place of our regular coaching sessions.  Further to this, the parking will be at the edge of the old runway and along the side of the road opposite the Aviation Museum at Heathhall.  Ewan Clark, the newest member of the Drumlanrig coaching team will be running a course familiarisation session at the race venue from 1800 to 1830 for all club members  - please turn up for 1745 to take part in this session.  This will help to give you the best chance in the race.

Drumlanrig Root Rats Coaching Thursday 27th May

Coaching is on as usual at Drumlanrig this Thursday, so Sprogs please aim to arrive by 5pm and Yoofs by 6:45pm.  Lead coach for the Sprogs group will be our new Scottish Cycling Coach, Alan Denman and the Sprogs session will focus on riding one handed.  Alan will introduce bottle jousting and bike ten pin bowling as the session progresses.   The lead coach for the Yoofs will be our own Ewan Clark and we will be continuing with Ewan's brand of high quality MTB based coaching and trail riding.  This week, Ewan will be aiming to teach us the bunny hop, that is, how get both wheels over an obstacle.

Next week's session is replaced by the Stepping Stanes Dirt Crit Race.  The race venue is the new off-road circuit that the Forestry Commission have built at Heathhall see the Root Rats blog for more details.  This is the second round of the D&G Youth MTB series and we are encouraging all riders in the club to take part.  The race is a Dirt Crit, which means that there will be a little bit more pedalling needed than in the last race, but it'll be fun!.  Don't forget that coaching session fees are 2.50 per session.

This Friday sees town centre racing returning to our area with Elite level circuit racing on the streets of Dumfries.  Racing starts just after 6pm with the start line in the region of Jessops and the race looping over a short circuit of High, Great King, English and Shakespere streets.  Why note come along and see what it is all about.

Finally, two important matters.  First of all our treasurer, Michelle Clark is aiming to send off the orders for Root Rats cycling shirts early next week so we are looking for any remaining order forms to be returned to her by the end of the week.  Secondly,  some riders have yet to renew their club membership.  We'd be grateful if you could do this as soon as possible as membership is a condition for attending club sessions.  Let me know by reply if you would like a membership form or shirt order form e-mailed to you.
