Trailbuilding Session this Tuesday at 18:30

This coming Tuesday is the first Tuesday of the month which means that it is Trailbuilding Tuesday at Drumlanrig.  This is your chance to put something back into the trails.  The trailbuilding session starts at 18:30 from the main carpark at the Castle and we are planning to return to the final section of the Black Route  where we were working last month.  Please bring along wheelbarrows, spades and shovels, and remember to wear gardening gloves and sensible shoes.

Root Rats Coaching Thursday 29th April

This week is the last week of coaching before our mini DH race.  The Sprogs session runs as usual, so please aim to arrive for 17:00 for the session which will finish at 18:30.  This week now that the nights are getting much lighter, the Yoofs session will start half an hour later, so please aim to arrive for 18:45 and we will finish at 20:30.  Our Yoofs session this week will be a red route ride led by Rik.

Please remember that memberships are now due - membership forms were attached to last week's e-mail, but are still available on request.

We are hoping that the majority of club members will come along a week on Thursday and give the mini DH race a bash.  There are races for all age groups.   Further details of the race are available on the Root Rats blog. Please note that full face helmets will be provided by Scottish Cycling for riders that wish to use them.  Entry to the race will be on the line so that you don't need to worry about entering in advance.

Root Rats Coaching Thursday 15th April

This is a reminder that our coaching sessions start again this Thursday.  For the Sprogs (U12) group, the session runs 17:15-18:30 and for the Yoofs (U16) group will start at 18:30 and finish at 20:00.  Please remember that there is a session fee of £2.50 per session and club memberships are now due.

This week is our first chance to meet the new Scottish Cycling Regional Development Coach who is going to be taking over from Richard Lord in our area.  Richard and Alan will be helping out with the coaching with a downhill flavour to brush up in skills for the Mini DH race that we have organised for the evening of Thursday 6th May.  More details of the Mini DH will be out soon. This race is designed to be a safe, entry level downhill race in which anybody can take part without the need for any specialised equipment.  With races for all age groups including adults, we are hoping that all club members will come and take part or help run this race.

Trailbuilding Session this Tuesday at 18:30

Our first trailbuilding session of the season starts 18:30 this Tuesday (6th April) at the Castle carpark.  This week, we are planning to smooth out some of the rougher parts of the last section of the black route.  Please come along and help us to put something back in to the trails - this contribution is highly appreciated by the Estate, you'll probably learn something and it is fun.  We expect to finish around 20:00.

If possible, please bring along a shovel, spade, rake, wheelbarrows (for shifting gravel) and gardening gloves along with suitable clothing and something to drink.
