Coaching returns to Thursday evenings

Coaching sessions are returning to Thusday nights at Drumlanrig. Secondary age group sessions start this Thursday at 18:30 and run on until 20:00, and the Primary age group sessions start on Thursday next week at 16:45.

For the secondary age riders, the theme for the next two sessions will be Downhill with Richard Lord of Scottish Cycling and myself forming the coaching team. We are using these two sessions as preparation towards a Mini DH Downhill event that is being run by EVR and Scottish Cycling on the 15th April at the Freeride Park in Newmilns. Mini DH events are designed to introduce riders to Downhill racing in a safe environment and the courses used are designed to be rideable by all with no need for special bikes and equipment. However, the courses can be very technically demanding to ride at speed! There will be a second Mini DH event at Ae Forest later this year. See the Root Rats blog for more details of the Newmilns event.

If anyone hasn't filled out a parental consent form for this year, please try to bring along a completed one to your first session. Membership fees for the year are U16 £10, adult £20 and family £40. Sessions fees are £2.50 per session, but new riders are welcome to come along and have a go for a couple of sessions before joining the club and having to pay.

Coming up next week is the first of our monthly trail building sessions. This will start from Rik's Bike Shed at 18:30 on Tuesday the 7th April. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in. Contact Rik for more details. Finally, please remember to look at the Blog for session dates, race reports and other events. This week, I have just added details of a road race coaching event that is being held at Ingliston by Scottish Cycling and will be adding a report and photos from the SXC race that took place at Kirroughtree yesterday.
